Day 2: Atlanta Botanical Garden

When we first started dating, Adam and I became members of the Atlanta Botanical Garden so it's always been a favorite of ours.  I highly recommend going to their Cocktails in the Garden events on Thursday nights summer through the fall.  Recently they added a canopy walk and the company for which I work, Arborguard, has been very involved in the treatment and care of the trees.  It's an amazing experience to walk among the treetops.

Now that they've also added an edible garden, it has really become an experience that stimulates all five senses!  The herbs smell incredible and the vegetables are used in cooking demonstrations.  Market restaurant was cooking seared scallops with field peas and a butter sauce to sample, as well as a watermelon gazpacho that has my mouth watering even now just thinking about it!  We are definitely planning to go the W Hotel in Buckhead so we can have it all over again.

Mocha and Mudslides is the theme for September since they're adding a Chocolate exhibit.

These gorgeous trees are loved and cared for by Arborguard!

I'm not sure photos can truly do the Fuqua Orchid Center justice.  There are hundreds of orchids and they are all completely breathtaking!

Giggling at the shape of the pitcher plants.

The view of the Atlanta skyline from the Garden is one of the best!

This is supposed to be the inside of the cacao pod, but it just looks wrong on so many levels...  Hey, I said we were turning 30.  I didn't say we were maturing!  Hahaha!
